Education FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Here is a list of the most common questions that we are asked. If you do not find the answer you are looking for or would like more information then please contact us and we will be happy to answer any queries you may have.

Is lunch provided?

No, lunch is not provided so you will need to ensure that you bring appropriate food and drink for physical, outdoor activities. We encourage you to bring a healthy lunch and it is recommended that you refrain from consuming energy drinks and sugary foods on site.

Can I bring a learning mentor with me?

Yes, learning mentors are welcome to work alongside us during your course, although this is not a necessary requirement for you to come to Greatwood. After discussions with your learning mentor, a programme will be put in place that will best suit your learning needs.

Can I ride the horses?

No, unfortunately only experienced staff at Greatwood can ride the horses. However, if you are lucky enough, you will have the opportunity to watch them ride and exercise the horses during your time here.

What should I wear?

You should ensure that you are prepared to get your clothes dirty and are dressed for the weather conditions. You will be working outside most of the time, so please ensure you wear sensible, waterproof footwear. If you own wellington boots or steel toe-capped boots then these can be worn. Footwear can also be borrowed from us during your session.

Can I bring my mobile phone?

Mobile phones, cameras, IPods and games consoles must be switched off and stored in a secure locker during lesson times. You will not be allowed to use the Internet on personal devices during your visit. Greatwood cannot except responsibility for any damage or loss of mobile phones whilst you are at Greatwood.

How many other students will be in my group?

This depends on which course you have signed up to. We try to keep groups to a maximum of 6-8 students with 2 teaching staff, however this may change depending on the needs of the group. 1:1 sessions are available, although there will be an additional charge for this service.
