Children and young people can access the countryside around the farm and learn about the environment through the Down to Earth programme. Greatwood has its own wildflower meadow and ancient woodlands and can provide examples of many animal habitats. Activities can include investigating leaf litter, tree identification, minibeast hunts and pond dipping.
Secondary aged students can follow our OCN accredited horticulture course learning how to grow a variety of vegetables and flowers in their own raised bed. The course also covers controlling weeds and explores ways to keep plants healthy. This is a level one course which is predominantly practical. The course is run over ten half day sessions through the summer term.
