Greatwood
Ta n t a l i s i n g l y Ta s t y Tr ea t s
Horses eat a lot! Grazing for 16 hours a day they happily munch on all the succulent grass out in
their paddocks. But occasionally, as humans, we like to give them a treat. We all love to treat our
animals and horses at Greatwood are no exception to the rule.
There is nothing better than home baked food, so with that in mind, we decided to make our own
horse treats and feed them to some of our lucky horses.
And it was the creative minds of some students from our Greatwood Engagement course that
were the chefs for the day, following a chosen recipe and mixing up all the ingredients before
baking them in the oven, ready to feed the horses. A particularly popular recipe was the Oat ‘n’
Chewy bars, full of healthy oats and apple sauce, a firm favourite with Deano’s Beano who was one
of the lucky ones to try out the bars.
A particular mention has to go to the students from Royal Wootton Bassett School who worked
well in their teams, creating some wonderful horse treats. Yum!
